Good skin is ALWAYS in

A chance glance in the mirror, you know the ones, that catch you off guard and result in you scrutinising every pore, blemish and shadow for the next 5 minutes and wondering what quick fix can help.

With my Maid of Honor debut just a few months away, it was time to get a skin check up.

As a self confessed lover of beauty treatments I’m always on the look out for something new. Enter Cygnini Clinic, based in the Suffolk’s, Cheltenham.

Cygnini Clinic specialise in non-surgical procedures using cutting edge technology to help clients get the very best results whether it be laser hair removal or to reverse the effects of sun damaged skin.

Having suffered with spot prone skin since my teens which duly disappeared in my twenties, I was horrified to find after having my children my teenage skin reappear. We’ve all heard the drink enough water, 5 a day and plenty of exercise is the key to great skin but what if you need something stronger to kick start the process?

……… step in Enerpeel, a revolutionary new peel.

The process itself is pretty quick and unobtrusive:

First an initial consult to discuss my skin, and what outcomes I was looking for. This allowed the therapist (Zoe – who was amazing throughout) to determine my skin needs and talk through the different options and peels available to me.

Problematic areas on my chin before treatment commenced

I choose the Enerpeel Salicylic Acid. As spots were a main concern this peel is designed to break down oil and surface debris in acneic skins, while also introducing the three key ingredients to control inflammation, kill bacteria, reduce oil production and normalise excess skin cell production.

My treatment started with Zoe removing any oil and daily debris from my skin, placing cotton pads over my eyes and vaseline around the end of my nose to protect sensitive skin. She then applied the Enerpeel. A slight warm sensation but nothing more was felt and after a 5 minute application and soak in time the peel was denatured using specially soaked pads – these are live enzyme peels after all. My skin looked shiny and clean, slight redness in a couple of spaces but nothing overally noticeable.

During my second treatment – the white crystallization you can see is the peel working

Advised to not wash my face or apply make up for 24 hours was probably the hardest part but worth it.  By the second day I could start to see differences. My skin felt incredibly smooth.

The peel works deep down into the skin, unlike more traditional peels which remove the top layers of skin these peels work deep down – killing the bacteria before it is able to rise through the layers of skin to become a spot. It’s genius really and without the tomato red ‘ive had a peel’ face.

After my first treatment I saw a difference to how clear my cheeks were becoming, after three treatments (approx 2-3 weeks apart) my cheeks, forehead and chin i found noticeable difference were not only clear skin but positively radiant, larger break outs were visibly reduced.

I have learnt that your skin is the key to everything – if you have great skin then everything falls into place – your make up looks better, you smile more.

I’d highly recommend visiting Cygnini for a consultation. Why not check out their current special offers here

Zoe assessed that my skin needed to be well mositurised so in addition to the Enerpeel treatments I am also trialing the Obagi Hydrate Luxe mosituriser and Retinol – being new to use Retinol i’m intrigued to see the results!

Throughout my skin treatments i reduced my caffeine and sugar intake and increased  water intake to 2-3 litres per day along with increased exercise as I train for my first 10K run. #mustbemad

Want to see the change in my skin – keep peeled for the next post….

Enjoy

Bridal Confidence – The elephant in the room

Weddings are a source of excitement and enjoy, admittedly there may be tense moments, families are a rich and diverse collection of people and on occasion may not blend together, but on the whole its against the grain to think that for some their wedding day just doesn’t conjure up quite the same thoughts of eternal elation.

The thought of posing in countless positions for photographs, to speaking in public about their undying love is enough to bring about a cold sweat and thoughts of eloping or in extreme conditions ‘calling it off’! Even the most confident bride can experience a wobble and may need alittle help to channel the beauty from within, because yes brides to be… you are all beautiful.

So whether you need a pep talk to get you going or to talk through how to stand or pose for the best pictures we have the experts on hand to help.

Two such ladies who understand the pressures of wedding planning and more importantly women are Susie Mackie and Dawn Swinley.

Susie Mackie is a wedding photographer who is passionate about photographing people. However Susie’s passionate goes deeper than just capturing your perfect day. Recognizing a need that some Brides needed a little boost she created My Sensuality  – a boudoir experience that she originally created for brides to be which revealed the beauty within, whilst giving brides an experience that they found liberating, confidence building, empowering and fun!  For some it has changed their lives forever, and for others they simply see themselves as others do – beautiful.

Susie says:

My style is timeless, emotional, and genuine; I capture your natural sensuality revealed through your eyes and body language, talking you through your poses and enabling you to feel truly liberated. To me, people are unique “living art” – the texture and tone, character and curve – and I celebrate this through my imagery.

My mission is to give you the confidence to feel good about all of you – from the inside out! If a very brief encounter with Penny and me at a My Sensuality shoot can empower you to feel good about yourself and love your images, then we have achieved what we set out to do!

Dawn Swinly is a nutrition and wellness coach , her business Mode-De-Vie provides a variety of solution’s to today’s modern women’s issues and her aim is to help you enjoy all that life can offer without you being burdened with unattractive and unnecessary body fat or health issues that drain your energy, ruin your looks and diminish your self-confidence.

Or they think to be healthy, you have to live on rabbit food or starve yourself or not enjoy any treats. No Faddy Diets or Finger Pointing Here. What you will get is someone who is a qualified Nutritionist who understands what you need to feel amazing and it’s not starving yourself, being scolded or trying to sell you the next “Magic Bullet” to being slim.

When life gives you lemons………

I write this as I am sitting in the trauma waiting room waiting for hubby to go down for surgery (severed his thumb tendon in a work accident)

And as I sit here, listening to bells pinging,  trolley wheels whizzing by its got me thinking and reflecting on some pretty big events that have happened in our lives;  buying a home, birth, death and of course marriage.

Back when we planned our own wedding, I remember the utter feeling of disparity and dispondment, the date was getting nearer, the budget was stretched to breaking point and I felt a huge weight of all the things that we still had to organise, and pay for.  It took a mini meltdown for me to take stock, re-evaluate what was important. Cutbacks and changes to your minds eye plans are always tough and any deviation from ‘the plan’ can feel like failure, but by celebrating the positive and embracing the negative you can adapt and move forward. You’ll be an amazed at your own inner strength and what you can achieve – styling your own flowers, venue decorations, cake making, stationary etc

In reality the importance of place names or favours, whether you’ve had a flora extraganzena or hired the latest big boy band are in many respects the ‘small stuff’, you know the bits that aren’t really important, (the important bits are your commitment and vows to one another) but you’d dearly love to have. And please don’t  get me wrong if you’ve the budget and it’s there then go for it! But if things are tight and it’s getting you down re-evaluate what important to you, what is important to you both as a couple.

And being actually married…. yes there’s the fluffy honeymoon period but life goes on.. it doesn’t remain fluffy and there will be trials and tribulations along the way (gosh that sounds bleak!) but there’s all the fun amazing stuff too that will define you as a couple and strengthen your bond.

So I think what I’m trying to say is don’t sweat the small stuff and when life throws you a curveball, or a lemon,  it doesn’t mean panic, disappointment, disaster. Embrace that lemon and definitely make lemonade, of course  with extra sparkle 😉

Back On The Wagon

So my last post wasn’t filled with exciting weight loss news… although i had reevaluated where I was at and where I want to be. I also mentioned my  decision to invest in myself. Let me tell you more:

Diets…. are the mother of all evil. Period.

Why? because you follow this plan and achieve weight loss but it is simply not sustainable so any euphoria is relatively short lived. Age I have found is a massive determinant in weight. My younger self could ‘crash’ diet and lose 6 pounds just like that! my older (and wiser self!) has found that i could not eat and gain that in a matter of days.

I needed a lifestyle change so sort out Dawn Swinley of Mode De Vie. Known as The Drop a Dress Size Coach she is a nutrition and wellness coach and with over 10 years of expertise the perfect person to kick start my new lifestyle.

After our initial chat about my current lifestyle and some simple questionnaires later we have determined not only my body type but my bodys metabolism type. I now have a detailed step by step eating plan – and guess what – its REAL FOOD!! Ok don’t get me wrong its not all chocolate and cream and Im sure at some point i’ll get the diet blues but I am actually excited by the food and not by the weight loss.

Of course Christmas is just around the corner so we have decided to start introducing some of the foods into my diet (to get hubby used to them as I am not going to be cooking twice of an evening!) and am looking start  January 2017.

If your looking for a lifestyle change that allows you to meet not just your weight but health goals too then Dawns ya gal.
