Venue Spotlight: Elmore Court

Let me take you back to the balmy summer nights which on warm breezes the scent of honeysuckle flows….. it seems like these midsummer nights were so long ago, but for those of you having weddings in summer 2018 I bet it feels like its around the corner.

Well it was on one of these beautiful evenings that I was invited to an exclusive event at Elmore Court. Its sad to say but its a venue I hadn’t actually been to before so i didn’t need asking twice!

Elmore Court (64)

Situated above the banks of the River Severn in Gloucestershire and with views across the Cotswolds, this stunning stately home has been lovingly passed down through the generations since the land was granted to the Guise family in 1274 by Henry III.

Reaching its current keeper Anselm Guise in 2007, Anselm and his family (who currently live on the estate) are passionate about preserving the property and the family’s long history, via extensive renovations they have assured this beautiful homes future and subsequently opened Elmore as an exclusive use wedding and events venue in 2013.

You’ll Love This Venue If

You love the comforts of modern entertaining but adore the original period influences that only 800 hundred years of history can bring. Take the ceremonies room as an example, wonderfully light and bright room but with feature fire places and one heck of a stained glass window!

Can my guests stay

Elmore offers a choice of 16 bedrooms with all mod cons which guests may utilize. Each bedroom has an equally stunning view across the surrounding countryside too. Perfect for today’s modern families, allowing you to all gather under one roof and reconnect without the worries of time pressures  – and the added bonus of being able to catch up again at breakfast the following morning.

This is in addition to the ‘Coach House’ a purpose built 2/3 bedroom property, situated a stones throw from the main house and offering Brides and their maids the chance to hide away the night before the big day.

How many guests can it hold?

The great hall is the perfect place for ceremonies and able to hold 200 guests, whilst dining capacity is at a healthy 250 in the purpose built Gillyflower (what an awesome name!)

Elmore Court (8)

The Gillyflower is essentially a purpose built party pad – care has been taken to ensure that this addition is practical yet unobtrusive to the rest of the venue – its meadow roof allows it to blend seamlessly into Elmore’s perfectly kept grounds.  As for noise pollution, the state of the art sound system and sound proofing means you can party your hardest to the wee small hours without fear of upsetting the neighbours.

Did I mention that the Gillyflower has a wonderful outside area with fire pit!

Why chose this venue

Aside from its exclusive use, meaning it is yours for the duration – the house, Gillyflower, coach house and meadows,  it offers couples and their guests all the home comforts that you could want alongside original period features making this venue super special and unique not to mention a photographers dream.  Anselm and the team here are on hand 24/7 and from the event they through for us they certainly know how to party!

Immortalizing your Wedding Flowers – the Modern Way

If there is one regret I have from my wedding, it is not preserving something, anything of the gorgeous florals that my fabulous florist created. The bouquet I designed in my mind that she lovingly created for me lives on in my memories and of course photographs. I  shall not forget the scent or the vividity of colours and in deed my flowers are still one of the memories that my guests still talk about today (my bouquet was a work of art!)

But the one thing I truly wish I had factored into my planning was how to preserve this segment of our special day – sadly i was not organised enough to arrange to have them whisked away to be dried and captured in frame, or set into a paperweight (i’m really not a paperweight kind of gal anyways)

So after a Sunday morning scroll with a latte through Instagram I came across this gem, Buttonsy Jewellery, now it has to be pretty special for me to spill a drop of liquid gold, but I did, and here’s why.

Buttonsy Jewellery provide couples with the alternative to freeze dried frames and paperweights they can set your wedding florals in jewellery – think bangles, necklaces and rings (please consider cuff links tho for the guys!) What I love about this idea is that the flowers do not in any way resemble the ‘dried flower’ look, no muted tones and flakey petals here! They look almost as real captured in the resin designs as they will have done on your day. Its the perfect memento, thank you gift and perhaps future heirloom

Here’s the dried bouquet and the finished bangle piece……….. perfection

So if your getting married or just want to check out some serious swoon worthy jewellery head on over to Buttonsy and be amazed and in awe of Anna’s beautiful craftsmanship. In fact i’m heading over now to browse (swoon) some more.
